Electra Partners has paid £160m (€186.7m) for a portfolio of data businesses owned by FTSE 250 media company UBM.
Operating
in 28 countries worldwide, the businesses serve a wide range of sectors
including healthcare, technology & IP, global trade, aviation and
forest products.
Electra Private Equity and the Electra Partners
Club 2007 LP will invest approximately £114m and £13m respectively on
completion of the deal.
Electra noted that the deal marks a return to its MBO strategy after its recent deals involved bank-related assets.
In
September, the private equity firm acquired a portfolio of second lien
and mezzanine debt positions in five UK and European companies for
£30m.
The largest holding was in UK caravan parks operator Park
Resorts, backed by GI Partners. Electra previously purchased £45.5m of
the company's debt in January 2012 from Lloyds, then a further stake
from RBS in July last year.
