Mid Europa Effects Secondary Buy Out of Alpha Medical from Penta Investments

Mid Europa forges ahead with its consolidation plans for the laboratories industry in Central Europe with the recent SBO of Alpha Medical, a Polish lab network formerly owned by Penta Investments. The deal involves a 100 per cent stake sale by Penta, and adds to Mid Europa’s medical laboratory portfolio, currently consisting of a majority stake in Diagnostyka (which was completed using the MEF III in February 2011) and a similar deal for the acquisition of Teresa Fryda Laboratory later in 2011. Alpha Medical operates 43 labs in Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic, and claims to be conducting over 30 mln tests annually. Founded in 1997, the group was acquired by Penta in 2006. Headquarters are located in Bratislava, and the group employs 820 people across all its branches.
