U.S. Fundraising Climbed in 2012, No Matter What Bad Things People Said About Bain Capital

PE firms may have had to go on the defensive during 2012 as one of their own launched a campaign to be Commander-in-Chief-Executive, but the year’s ongoing image problems didn’t seem to affect their ability to rake in huge piles of cash.
In the U.S., fundraising by private equity firms, which includes buyout, venture capital, mezzanine, secondary and fund of funds, jumped by 20%, from $133 billion raised in 2011 to $160.4 billion in 2012, according to Dow Jones’ LP Source.
