Poland: Unemployment Quota at 13.4%

The labor market situation is one of Poland´s most pressing issues. Compared to November 2012, the unemployment quota was up by 0.5 percentage points.

In December, Poland´s unemployment quota reached 13.4%. Against December 2011, this is an increase of 0.9 percentage points. In total, the country registered 2,135,000 job-seekers.
In the course of this year, the unemployment quota is expected to grow further. This is mainly due to the economic slowdown. For the first time since 1993, real incomes fell in Poland last year. Moreover, retail sales were down by 2.5% last month. This year, Poland´s economic growth is expected to reach about 1.5%. The forecasts had to be revised several times.
